Sentence Analysis Simplified

In order to be able to analyse sentences, you need to learn the fundaments of sentence analysis as bellow:

The eight word classes

The seven functions

The six primary materials

The five secondary materials

When we want to analyse a sentence, we do it in two levels:

  • the primary level where we find the functions of each sentence constituent, and the primary materials of the functions,
  • and the secondary level where we find the secondary materials of each sentence constituent.

                                      Functions:

S, V, DO, IO, SC, OC, A

Primary Level ——->

                                      Primary Material:

NP, VP, Adj.P, Adv.P, PP, Clauses

Secondary Level —-> Secondary Material:

D, H, PrM, PoM, PC
